organization & funding information
Incorporated in 1928, Jewish Family Service (JFS) provides social, behavioral health, immigration and resettlement services to individuals and families in the Detroit metropolitan area. Mentor Connection is a non-sectarian program of JFS that takes a proactive approach to reach at-risk youth by pairing them with adult mentors who provide attention and guidance to support their development into healthy, productive adults. The program consists of a large community mentoring program serving youth 7-17 in Oakland County.
In 2004 JFS was a recipient of a three-year Mentoring Programs grant from the U.S. Department of Education to expand mentoring services to youth in Oakland County. Over the past two years, local businesses, individuals and organizations have joined with us by way of financial support, as well as program collaboration. It is through these existing and future community partnerships that Mentor Connection will continue to provide quality mentoring services.
